Integrated Pipe-handling and Rack Lift System
Introduction
Pipe handling and rack lift system allows highly precise lifting of different size irrigation pipes for a complete turnkey system.
Project Challenge
Jet Stream, a leading supplier of plastic pipe for irrigation and sewer systems was looking to improve inefficiencies in their production processes. They wanted to gain better control of their pipe loading and binding process by reducing the manual tasks and integrating material handling equipment that would do the hard work for them. No, small task due to the enormity in size of the pipes and the reorienting requirements coming out of fabrication to get them ready for stacking and binding.
Jet Stream reached out to our dealer group Matrix Material Handling to help them resolve these issues. Autoquip worked with the team at Matrix to deliver a successful solution with a multiple lift system to handle the complexity of these pipes positioning and binding requirements.
Our Solution
Autoquip designed and built a multiple lift system that works together with the customer’s existing equipment to create a fully integrated manufacturing processing line. A single pipe is transferred out of fabrication onto a conveyor that loads the pipe to a lift & turn scissor lift table. The lift & turn system lifts the pipe than rotates it before shuttling to the rack system where the pipe rolls along the rails to another scissor lift table with fixture. The pipe is loaded on top of fixture and the process is repeated again until (3) or more pipes are stacked together for the binding process.
