Battery-Powered Compact Lift Services Passenger Trains

A on-board battery operated American Compact Scissor Lift used to carry tools to service passenger train.

Amtrak needs the ability to lift and support heavy components for the servicing of their interior train cars. The lifts need to be portable and narrow enough to fit through the bulkhead door or even required access through a train car window. The lift also needs to be self-powered due to power source limitations on board. Lastly, the lift has to be able to carry tools for the service workers to access during repairs or maintenance.

Autoquip equipped the American Compact Lift with all the solutions requested by Amtrak. The compact lift is narrowly built to fit through the bulkhead and train window and can be accessed with a forklift operation through the attached casters, which make this an easy application. The lift also includes a battery powered hydraulic power unit with its own on board battery charger and compartment shelving for carrying and accessing tools.
